What We Do
DEVELOPMENT OF GROUPS
The development of self-help groups is the core activity supported by Amani UK. Groups will include widows, widowers, orphans and young people and a 10 year programme tailored to each group is followed by the members to enable them to move out of poverty and become self-sustaining
HOMEBASED CARE
Homebased care is an integral part of the Amani UK support for the local community, reaching out as it does to those most in need and least able to help themselves. We believe that working within the community to provide better provision of food, water, housing, health, education and employment is the way forward.
HEALTH
Amani UK supports the Ted Rayner Memorial clinic which provides healthcare in a very rural area. We also fund the training of Community Health Workers who enable basic medical needs to be met prior, if necessary, to referral to the clinic or local hospitals.
EDUCATION
Amani UK works to set up links between UK and Kenyan schools. We run a programme where classes in the 2 countries correspond with one another and exchange experiences of their local life and culture.
TED RAYNER MEMORIAL CLINIC
The Ted Rayner Memorial Clinic is one of Amani UK’s many important activities. Please click here to find out more about the clinic.
KEEP A GIRL IN SCHOOL
‘KaGiS’ provides sanitary towels to thousands of Kenyan girls, enabling them to maintain their attendance at school, continue their education uninterrupted and to stay safe. We also support the Healthy Choices Programme which educates both girls and boys via school sessions in Health, Sex and Relationships. Click here to find out more
